WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Built Like Furniture Used To Be

At Manasses Henry Furniture Co., “good enough” has never been the goal. We build each piece with the hope it will live with your family for generations.
SOLID HARDWOOD
TRUE JOINERY
LIFETIME-MINDED
BUILT LIKE FURNITURE USED TO BE

The important work is often the work you do not see first.

The joinery, the lumber selection and the refusal to hide cheaper materials underneath the surface are what separate a piece that simply looks good from one meant to live with a family.
TRUE MORTISE-AND-TENON JOINERY
We use genuine mortise-and-tenon joints, not shortcuts or decorative lookalikes. It can be slower and more demanding, but it creates strong, long-lasting connections that stand up to daily use.
100% SOLID HARDWOOD CONSTRUCTION
Every visible and structural part of your piece is solid wood. No plywood. No chipboard. No mystery core hidden under a veneer.
BUILT TO BE BACKED
We design and build every piece with one clear intention: we want to feel confident putting our name and a lifetime warranty behind it.
EARLY TRADITIONS, PRESENT-DAY DESIGN

Shaped by early American restraint, designed for today’s rooms.

Our approach is shaped by early Shaker and early American furniture traditions.
–  Clean, honest lines
–  Functional forms that put use first
–  Proportions that feel calm and grounded
We are not strictly a “Shaker furniture” shop. Instead, we draw from those roots as we design pieces for today’s bedrooms and dining rooms, keeping the emphasis on restraint, usefulness and quiet character.
SOLID NORTH AMERICAN HARDWOODS

The material standard is intentionally simple.

We work with North American hardwoods, sourced through trusted local mills, including some material from Canada.
Our lumber is carefully dried down to roughly 6–8% moisture content, which helps limit movement once the piece is in your home.

FINISHES CHOSEN FOR YOUR SPACE

Beautiful surfaces, chosen for real rooms.

We offer finishes that balance beauty, durability and the way you actually live with your furniture.
OUR STANDARD FINISH
Most pieces today are built with a hand-applied stain and a protective polyurethane topcoat. Durable, everyday friendly. Wipes clean easily. Well suited to modern family spaces and busy rooms.
It is the finish we recommend for most clients who want a beautiful, low-maintenance surface that holds up to real life.
OUR TRADITIONAL OIL FINISH
A more natural look and feel. Food-safe, suitable for pieces like tables and sideboards. Requires more regular care and re-oiling to stay at its best.
CUSTOM & DESIGNER FINISHES
Tailored color work, finish matching for beloved heirlooms and specialty looks such as ceruse finishes are best handled in direct conversation.
This finish helped define Manasses Henry in the 1990s and early 2000s. Today, we still make it available for those who love its warmth and patina, but we no longer present it as the default for every piece.
A NOTE ON PAINTED PIECES

Handled carefully, not presented as the main story.

We can paint furniture, particularly under the direction of interior designers who have a specific color and product in mind.
At the same time, we intentionally do not present painted furniture as a primary offering because expectations around paint type, color and sheen can become complex. Painted finishes are handled on a case-by-case basis, typically with an elevated fee and clear expectations set in advance.
BUILT TO BE BACKED

A lifetime warranty for the original owner.

Our Lifetime Warranty for the original owner is one more way we stand behind the craftsmanship and materials that set Manasses Henry apart.
You can learn more about coverage, registration and how claims are handled on our dedicated Warranty pages.
